BEACH ELOPEMENT WEDDING BY THE OTHER BRIDESMAID

We talked with Event Stylist Ashleigh Dugdale, from The Other Bridesmaid about the inspiration behind this seashell-toned, ‘Beach Elopement’ styled wedding shoot and discussed some of the details of the day.

Q: What was your inspiration and vision behind the styling for this shoot?

A: “A beach elopement; captured for the dreamers and styled for the wild and free.”

“With a vision born from light and silhouette and a colour palette inspired by the tones and textures of the ocean’s shoreline. Kate Robinson Photography desired to capture movement; lovers in motion. While The Other Bridesmaid dreamt of bringing to life the visual passage along the oceans edge. Playfully deconstructing the shades and textures, placing emphasis on the perfection amongst the imperfection, and layering the light and the dark that one admires along the way - all with the desire for our bride and groom to arrive to an intimate setting that embodied their journey to their ‘I-do’s’.

Natures elements play a significant role in the deconstruction of the tablescape; how the tides have tossed the remnants of what once was and how objects have tumbled to a new state of being. The fluid draping is an expression of the waves as they effervesce, mesmerizing, continuous and in unison. The daytime candlelight captures the ethereal shimmer of the ocean saturated sand while the precious stones are symbolic of the mineral creation of love and of hope.

Curating and capturing a setting for lovers, for dreamers and for admirers – a place to be still and allow the world to quieten as the waves create music along the oceans shore.”

Q: What were some of the key elements of this shoot?

A: “As with all collaborations, every contribution is key – we are a mixture of creatives who together make a whole. Kate Robinson brought the vision and interpretation of light, Amy New brought the femininity and silhouettes, Yesterday Creative brought the ethereal textures and static movement, The Sweet Society Co brought the blend of each colour and texture that spoke to the core of the concept, Louise Francis brought the oceanic energy and graciousness, Hueseeka brought the palette to life and to light and the ocean brought the sounds, the shapes and the emotion that connected us all.”

Q: Sounds like a truly magical combination of products and talent. Can you tell us why you choose to work with our candles?

A: “When we started off selecting candle colours for this shoot we drew inspiration from the edge of the ocean, picking the softest more feminine tones – nude, stone and ivory knowing that these would complement the depth and darkness of the rocks and surroundings. Playing with the various candle shapes meant that we could recreate the inconsistencies of the stones that are tumbled by the waves.

Hueseeka's Candles compliment, express and ignite any and all colour palettes. We adore that we can mix match the shades to find depths within our colour range whilst bringing in the colours that oftentimes we cannot guarantee in floral varieties. The colour wheel is not only vast, but the shades are so desirable and a little secret, there have been occasions where we let the candle colour wheel guide the style direction. A huge plus is the burning quality of the candles, they burn slow and consistently meaning that they can be held in our inventory and reused – moving towards sustainability, something The OB values very much.”
